The Local Government & Rural Development Department is striving to ensure improved livelihood of rural masses by developing community-owned rural infrastructure and providing urban civic/municipal facilities/services to the residents of Gilgit-Baltistan under the provisions of Gilgit-Baltistan Local Government Act, 2014 and other related polices. The department is engaged in the effective implementation of food safety laws/rules and building control legislation in GB. Also provision of better health and hygiene through improved sanitation under Gilgit-Baltistan Waste Management Company.
